New York States of Mind

From Peter Hyman

The third "New York States of Mind" show is next Wednesday, March 15th, and tickets are on sale now. We're returning to our humor roots with this installment, which will feature three very talented writers/humorists discussing matters literary, comedic and cultural, but in a way that is very television friendly (though, actually, this will not be televised).

If you're curious about what really goes on inside the mind of a writer, and how such a person spends their days and nights, then this is the show for you.

Rising Above the Din: Writing Amid A Noisy Culture
The written word has survived the onslaught of film, television and the Internet, but what does it mean to be a writer in an age when it's almost impossible to be heard? And what is the purpose of the novel in an era of blogs, TiVo and pop culture on demand? Our panel of writers will explore these issues in a free-flowing conversation about art, artifice and the so-called death of American culture.

Featuring:

-Jonathan Ames (author of Wake Up, Sir! and six other books; Moth host extraordinaire; raconteur)
-John Hodgman (author of The Areas of My Expertise, "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" contributor)
-Sam Lipsyte (award-winning author of Home Land, The Subject Steve and Venus Drive)

Here are the logistical details you were waiting for:
