See Rachel Sklar tonight!

From Fishbowl-er Rachel Sklar:

WHAT: "Weekly Review" -- New York's ONLY Musical Comedy News Show!*

WHEN: Tonight!! 7 pm. Oy, I'm plotzing. No, make that kvelling.

WHERE: Caroline's Comedy Club, Broadway btwn 49th & 50th

WHO: A bunch of very talented performers, all of whom are professionals except for your truly, so please clap a little louder for me out of pity.

WHY: Because the Bush Administration exists to be mocked in song. Duh.

HOW:  Through sheer dint of hard work, plus our musical director writing about a gazillion original songs, plus fun parodies of all your favorites, or at least some of them. Three, to be exact.

HOW MUCH: Equally germane. Call the Caroline's box office at 212-757-4100 and reserve tickets at $5 apiece (a bargain for all the singing and dancing you're about to enjoy!). Seriously, call first because they might be sticky and charge you more at the door. But if they do kick up a fuss and loudly proclaim "I'm a LAWYER, you know" because that usually works, and also makes people like you.

DJ! Dancing! It’s a Bar Mitzvah!

Roger Bennett, Jordan Carlos, Eric Drysdale, Peter Hyman, Jessi Klein, Nick Kroll and Jules Shell

Journey with the authors of Bar Mitzvah Disco back to a time when there were DJs like Rick from Music King in Columbus, Ohio, who made Kenny G seem cool. Hear stories of boys and girls sporting savage haircuts, forced not only to deal with crushes but also to expose them to their families. Recall a time of unabashed materialism, all lived with an insufficient dose of irony.

November 1st Variety Shac will have giftbags!

Okay, November 1st is fast approaching, and you know what that means (or if you don't, I'll tell you) - VARIETY SHAC! And...word has it, there will be giftbags. After feeling like a total fool for missing the cupcakes on sale at the last one, I'm not missing this one, especially since Andrea Rosen very sweetly told me last night that the girls were thinking of my cupcake obsession when they made them. And, I must say, lots of stellar talent onstage last night at The Rejection Show (including Adam Wade's repeat showing of his Blind Date audition tape, which apparently Mr. Friedman smuggled out of the studios just for him), but Ms. Rosen really stole the show with her awesome rendition of this racist, giggly, clueless girl who auditioned for Chelsea Peretti's TV-show-that-never-was, Minority Rules. Also, Nick Kroll gave us the rundown on being Andy Roddick's mojo, and even wore the t-shirt. I realized that I have not been to Welcome to Our Week in ages, since Jessi left. Must go back, if only for Kroll's giggles. Those were the highlights for me. Next month also has a great lineup, including Morgan and Michael of Overheard in New York.

Sweet Paprika, Friday October 7th

From the ladies of Sweet Paprika

We were just in rehab.  But lucky for us, and for you, we
fell of the wagon and we are back!  For just one night!

That's right fans, friends, and others who were drunk and put their

have her around!

Ron Poole: the comedic version of methyl alcohol!

And of course, your enablers, Allison and Ophira!  They don't fall,
they stumble.

Hello Mailing List,

Wanted to fill you on some October shows. First off, I'm doing a very

Fucking Around Anymore." Its 30 minutes of my newest standup, bits, and
more! Its part of the NY Underground Comedy Festival. Reserve it up!

Aziz Ansari Isn't Fucking Around Anymore.
Saturday, October 8th, 7:30 pm, $5
Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre
307 West 26th Street between 8th and 9th Avenue
Phone: 212-366-9176

Make reservations here

I've also posted two new videos on AzizisBored.com. The first is
"Shittiest Mixtape Boombox Blast" and it was done to fulfill a bet made at
a Crash Test show a few weeks back. The other is Episode 2.5 of
"Shutterbugs." Rob had some committments in LA and we weren't able to
crank out Episode 3, but have no fear 'Bugs fans - it'll be out in late
October. Episode 2.5 should hold you over though.

Other than that, come check out Crash Test on Mondays at 11 at UCB. The
show is still free and I have some great lineups planned. Check
azizisbored.com for up to date schedules.

Rob Paravonian's last night hosting Comedy Pro Shop/November 2nd Laugh Lounge Event

I'm about to post some pics from last week's Comedy Pro Shop. I'd have gone tonight but was seriously laughed out from the Rififi insanity. But I am sad that tonight was the last night of Rob Paravonian hosting Pro Shop. I'm sure Elon will let us know what's gonna happen with it.

The good news is there's a cool show going on November 2nd, also from Rob:

An amazing lineup of comics will appear in this showcase for Jimmy Kimmel Live! Many of the comics already have t.v. credits on Comedy Central, Conan O'Briend and others and are working towards getting their next set on t.v. The lineup includes: Ophira Eisenberg, Victor Varnado, Todd Levin, Dan Cronin, Andres duBouchet, Allison Castillo, Liam McEneaney, Chris Deluca, Susie Felber, me and more! I guarantee this is a show worth seeing! Reservations necessary: 212-614-2500

And the ECNY award for best heckler goes to...

All I have to say about tonight's Million Dollar Bash at Rififi is that it was totally hilarious. It was a small crowd and really one of those you had to be there moments, for the O'Debra Twins + Richard Marx impersonator onstage dancing and gyrating, and then this old woman walked in and was muttering to herself, and to everyone around her, telling us that the crowd was young, and she'd called ahead. What else happened? I'm hoping Liam doesn't break my kneecaps for sharing this, but Bob Powers brought up some of his bestselling self-help book ideas, Andres directed the audience to cheer, my friend Lori was the bachelorette of the night and got quite the bachelorette party, Becky and Noelle (?) sang songs a la Jen Wood/Tattle Tale, oh and Lori got a lap dance. I think that about covers it, I do have photos to share at some point too. The point is - come back on Sunday for the next Million Dollar Bash, 7 pm at Rififi, which is apparently booked EVERY NIGHT OF THE WEEK for comedy shows and hence is out for my birthday.

Joe Devito's shows

I really don't know how people do so many shows. I sometimes wonder how people get onstage at all. I do readings, but I kinda hate it. Being onstage is not me at my finest, but I'm a writer, first and foremost, not a performer.

Anyway, just a prelude to Joe Devito's week full of shows, cause he and everyone else I link to here DO belong onstage:

Monday -- "The Big Sell" at Otto's Shrunken Head, 8:00. All comics who've worked in advertising.
Tuesday -- Giant Tuesday Night of etc, 8:00
Wed. -- Suddenly Stand-Up at the Duplex, 7:00. Then some magazine launch party at Laugh Factory at 9:30. Have you ever been there? They have plasma TVs all over the place, the stage looks like you're on a TV special.
Thurs -- "Best of..." at Jack Demsey's, 8:00. Some of our faves and me airing it out for a nice long set, whether the audience wants me to or not.

Mortified

Mortified was AWESOME last night. I went with my mom and high school student stepbrother and we all laughed a lot. The 9-year-old business letters from Chanel were really amazing. What a rockin' show. Hint to all attending in the future - make a reservation. We almost didn't get in. Kudos to Giulia for another fabulous lineup. But...I would like to see people I haven't seen before. Not that I don't like their sets, but paying $12 I'd like to see all new stuff. Jon Friedman did some great deep voiced prank phone calls and read from his journal, and there was music too. But those fake business letters ruled. Photos from the show coming soon.

Nate from The Apiary was there too and I'm sure will have lots of photos. I also met Shawn Hollenbach from Mintyfresh who was awesome - they have shows October 8th at Laugh Factory and 20th at The Tank, the latter of which is a coming out show. But when when when is the singles comedy show? Cause clearly that's what I need. I'm half-kidding, half-not. I'll keep my eyes peeled on the Mintyfresh site.
